Pajama Day

It's pajama day! Campbell really loves this home school business and can't get enough of colouring. It's a good thing I bought Pokemon cards in bulk on eBay otherwise this could have been expensive. $15 for 100 cards so I have some time and cards on my side!

Learning and growing

Every day we get a little more used to the routine of homeschooling. One of the silver linings from this time is the awesome amount of time we have had learning together. My son loves math, reading and comprehension. He still avoids penmanship but is willing to do the pages. He has developed a good, consistent work ethic that is really impressive. While he may have to work harder than his peers to accomplish tasks he is willing to do the work.

Making time to enjoy our time together is a daily priority.

It elevates the isolation experience.

Bedtime Story narrated by Campbell

It's so awesome to watch Campbell read. He loves these little books and they are really motivating. He reads two books and I read him two books at bedtime.

Dealing with Emotions

Being in isolation with a varied schedule has made our son a little irritable and grumpy. He enjoyed the following story about Angry Campbell and Happy Campbell.

Angry Campbell was storming around in his room throwing things and getting ready to write his mom a mean message when there was a knock on the door.

"Who is it?" he yelled.

"It's Happy Campbell" said Campbell

"I just came back from a bike ride, and doing my homework and helping mom and I feel GREAT! Can I come in?"

Inside the room Happy Campbell looked at Angry Campbell and said,

"What are you doing?"

Angry Campbell said, "I am mad at mom. She won't let me watch my shows so I am going to write her a mean letter."

Happy Campbell looked at Angry Campbell and said, "I get it. Sometimes I get really, really angry and when I do I think of all the things that make me mad and then I take a deep breath from my belly and think of blowing out all of those things and blow them out of the top of my head."

Angry Campbell looked at Happy Campbell like he was crazy and said, "Okay I will try it."

He took a deep breath from the bottom of his belly thought of all those negative thoughts and blasting them up through the top of his head as he exhaled.

"Hey I feel a little bit better." he said. "You are pretty cool Happy Campbell."

"Yeah, I know." said Happy Campbell. "Want to go play with my LEGO?"
